It’s Friday night, it’s club night – time for “BOUNCERS” to come alive! In this all-new up-dated version of the outrageous and hilarious parody of the contemporary nightclub scene, four brutish bouncers portray over twenty characters inviting us for a night on the town. We meet giggly girls, lads on the make, Hooray Henrys, pogo-ing punks, and a smooth talking DJ, all set against the tatty, glitzy glamour, flashing lights and pulsating beat of the dance floor.
John Godber wrote Bouncers in 1984 where it was premiered at the Edinburgh Festival and went on to become one of the country’s most performed plays. This particular version was written as the remix in 1991, and it is our pleasure to perform it for you this evening.
Bursting with imagination and wit and presented by 4 actors, Bouncers is an hilarious parody of the 80/90s disco scene . The four actors portray over 20 characters as we are invited for a night on the town. We see them as 4 Bouncers, Les, Judd, Ralph and Lucky Eric, who turn into giggly girls and lads getting ready for a great night out at the local disco, “Mr Cinders”. They become scousers, punks and drunken slobs as the evening’s events evolve, set against the glitzy glamour and pulsating beats of the nightclub scene. Edgy, brilliant and mixed with popular disco music, let us entertain you in true retro fashion. Ladies and Gentlemen, we present Bouncers.
