Director's Notes

Golly! Gosh! Tonight’s story tells of the thrilling escapades encountered by our hero Richard Hannay who is wanted in connection with the Portland Place murder. Gasp! You don’t mean the Portland Place murder? Yes. Struth guvnor!

Hannay with his dark, wavy hair, piercing blue eyes, very attractive pencil moustache and rugged good looks is pursued across England and into Scotland. His adventure involves three women, a foreign femme fatale, a humble crofter’s wife and a debs delight all who fall madly in love with him. His adventures involve a milkman, char lady, porter, paper boy, salesmen, detectives, policemen, heavies, taciturn Scottish crofter, aircraft pilots, two refined Scottish gentlemen of indeterminate years, radio announcer, husband and wife hotel proprietors, sheriff, music hall double act and ........ a fiendishly cunning professor and his equally heartless wife who will stop at nothing to wreck this land we love. Is there no limit to the devastation that these black-hearted fiends will cause? The swine’s! This country we love. Its hills and dales. Bye-ways and high ways. It’s people. Resolute. Ready to give the other chap a fair chance. All........ all in danger unless...... unless our hero can stop the professor’s plan.

The management of BLT are bound, after due consideration, to issue a warning to audiences. THIS PLAY IS NOT FOR THOSE OF A FAINT HEARTED DISPOSITION.

Audiences will need to gird their loins. This exciting story will grip the vitals. Tense, thrilling, fast moving and patriotic, with fearful, tearful romantic episodes that touch the heart and stir the blood. 135 characters are played by four very talented actors supported by a wonderful technical team.

Sit back and enjoy this ripping yarn.
